What is Ultrasound Cavitation?
Ultrasound cavitation is a relatively new aesthetic treatment. Cavitation is a body sculpting treatment with no anesthesia, no scars, no discomfort, no down-time and presents a risk-free alternative to liposuction. The result is instant loss of fat cells.
Cavitation causes tons of microscopic air bubbles to surround the lipocyte (fat cell) membranes and with its resonant frequency, the bubbles cause a high enough pressure to cause the fat cells to break up instantly. The broken lipocytes can then be naturally drained by the body’s own natural filtration system; they are then moved to the liver and safely metabolized out of human body which is assisted by drinking a lot of water, lymphatic drainage and exercise.
Generally one fat cavitation treatment lasts 35-40 minutes where a single part of the body is treated. 72 hours must pass between each session so that the body can eliminate the fat. The minimum suggested number of fat cavitation sessions is between 6 and 10, depending on the body type and client goal.
What is Radiofrequency (RF)?
Radiofrequency (RF) energy is a new and promising technology for non-surgical tightening of the skin. RF is capable of applying electromagnetic energy to the deep dermis from the surface of the skin, thereby fighting flaccidity, corporal cellulitis and favoring the elimination of cavitated fat.
RF is best suited to patients with mild to moderate sagging of facial tissues, with any skin color. It is commonly used to treat the forehead, under the eyes, cheeks, mid-face, jaw line and the neck. RF can also be used in conjunction with ultrasound cavitation to aid in further fat breakdown and also to tighten the skin in the same area the cavitation treatment has taken place.
By applying energy to the skin our tissues form a resistance to the passage of RF. This resistance produces the internal elevation of the tissue temperature and, in doing so, the organism responds in 2 different ways, with bipolar RF a profound heat is generated and with tripolar RF a superficial heat is generated which contracts the sub-dermal fibers of elastin and collagen, thereby tensing the skin. In both cases the elevated temperature increases blood flow to the area treated, which provides more oxygen, dragging away excess fluids, toxins and in this case also the cavitated fat.
What advantages can I obtain from cavitation and RF?
- Weight loss
- Localized loss of volume
- Dissolution of fatty mass
- Firming of the tissue, thanks to the contraction effect of the collagen molecules
What to expect?
The sessions usually take place once a week. The results are immediate. Some patients notice a reduction in up to two dress sizes after just two or three sessions, others take a little longer. But they all notice a substantial reduction within a relatively short space of time.
What does the patient feel while the treatment is being applied?
With cavitation the patient feels a slight tickling sensation and a buzzing in the ears. In the ultrasound part, however, the sensation is that of pleasant local warmth. Vacuum therapy provokes a sensation of being massaged. The three phases last an approximate total of one hour’s treatment. It is not an uncomfortable or painful treatment.
Are there any contraindications?
Under no circumstances should this treatment be performed on pregnant women, on patients who have an implant or prosthesis in the area to be treated, patients with pacemakers, with lipid, triglyceride or cholesterol disorders.
If you also have liver problems and / or kidney (stones, transplants, etc) it is best to avoid cavitation.
Do I need to do anything additional to the treatment?
It is advisable to follow a hypocaloric diet. Lymphatic drainage sessions are also recommended. It is very important to drink plenty of fluids during the entire treatment daily and, if possible, add exercising to your routine.
