Differences between Swedish and Deep-tissue Massage Therapy
Swedish Massage is the most common massage for newcomers. Gen Spa’s Swedish Massage offers 10 different strokes of massage techniques, utilizing a firm pressure on the muscles to help heal the body. It involves a series of long yet gliding strokes directing the blood to the heart and the use of various oils to reduce friction on bare skin. This type of massage relaxes the body, easing muscle tensions, releases toxins, produce fresh blood, and brings oxygen to the cells of the body.
Deep-tissue Massage goes deeper layers into the muscles and realigning the fiber of the muscles and connective tissue releasing all the chronic muscle tensions. The movement of this type of massage is much slower and the pressure is deeper, focusing on the areas of tension and pain to reach the sub-layer muscles and fascia. Deep tissue massage may treat chronic pain, lower back pain, postural problems, tennis elbow, sciatica, sports injury, after workout, and many more. It physically breaks down to any adhesion, relieving pain, and restoring normal movements. There may be discomfort after the deep tissue massage but it should subside after a day or two.
